Offshore drilling co. Shelf Drilling's jack-up rig Shelf Drilling Enterprise is commencing its new contract with Chevron Thailand from early Jan 2021. The contract would start from early Jan 2021 and run until Sept 2022 for duration of 628 days. The contract has an option to extend. The estimated dayrate of the rig for the contract is USD 90, 000.

Shelf Drilling, Ltd. in its 13 November 2020, fleet status update said that jack-up rig Shelf Drilling Enterprise estimated contract commencement with Chevron Thailand delayed to late December 2020 due to COVID-19 related logistical challenges.

On January 14, 2020, ( Dubai), Shelf Drilling, Ltd. (“Shelf Drilling” or the “Company”, OSE: SHLF) announced that it has secured a contract for its recently acquired high-specification jack-up rig, Shelf Drilling Enterprise, with Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production, Ltd. (“Chevron”) for operations in the Gulf of Thailand. The contract is expected to commence in August 2020 and run through April 2022 with an option to extend.

The contract value for the firm period, including mobilization revenue, is US$59 million. Including the purchase price, subsequent reactivation and contract-specific upgrades, the estimated all-in delivered cost of the rig is US$81 million. Shelf Drilling plans to initially fund the acquisition and deployment of the Shelf Drilling Enterprise by drawing on its revolving credit facility and cash on hand and expects to opportunistically access long term debt financing to replenish liquidity.

Chief Executive Officer, Shelf Drilling, Mr. David Mullen, said, “We are excited to further expand our business with Chevron and operations in the Gulf of Thailand. The contract award reconfirms the operating capabilities of the entire team at Shelf Drilling and our ability to deliver value to our customers. We believe our latest rig acquisition and underlying contract demonstrate our disciplined approach to capital spending and our focus on generating returns for our investors.”

On January 7, 2020, Danish drilling contractor Maersk Drilling and Shelf Drilling have

closed a transaction related to the sale of the Maersk Completer jack-up rig. Shelf Drilling entered into a deal to buy the the Maersk Completer from Maersk Drilling for $38 million in cash in December last year. The rig, which was delivered in 2007, has been stacked in Singapore since 2017.

The sale was in line with Maersk Drilling’s decision to concentrate its jack-up activities in the harsh environments in the North

Sea. Maersk also believed it had limited prospects for reactivation of the rig. The rig has been renamed Shelf Drilling Enterprise. The company said it would provide a further update on expected deployment of this rig in the near-term.

On 18 Dec 2019, Maersk Drilling sells jack-up rig Maersk Completer. Maersk Drilling has entered into an agreement with a subsidiary of Shelf Drilling, Ltd. to sell the jack-up rig Maersk Completer for USD 38m in an all-cash transaction. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, and the rig is expected to be delivered in January 2020.
