On 06 Feb 2020, Petrobras has contracted Constellation Oil Services semisubmersible Atlantic Star for work in the Campos Basin offshore Brazil. The contract has a duration of 1,095 days and is expected to commence before the end of October 2020. The 1,968-ft unit is currently hot stacked in Brazil following the completion of a multi-year term with Petrobras that ended in January 2019.
In addition to the Atlantic Star, Constellation Oil Services currently has two floating rigs under contract to Petrobras in Brazil and another three floating rigs set to begin work with Petrobras over the next several months.
Atlantic Star is a midwater semi-submersible drilling rig which was originally constructed in 1976 and was acquired by the Company in 1997. An upgrade to Atlantic Star was completed in February 2011. The rig is capable of drilling at water depths of up to 2,000 feet and has a drilling depth capacity of up to 21,320 feet.
The Atlantic Star is an anchor moored column stabilized semi-submersible drilling rig constructed in Compagnie Francaise d’Enterprises Métalliques, in France. The rig follows the Pentagon design, and is equipped with hightech devices that ensures a maximum uptime and safer operations while minimizing emissions, discharge and human interface.
