Borr Drilling the Norwegian jackup rig owner on March 1, 2021, has been awarded a series of new contracts and letters of intent, according to its latest fleet status update. Borr Drilling’s 2018-built jackup rig Skald has received a letter of award for a three-year contract from PTTEP for deployment in Thailand from June 2021 to June 2024. The estimated dayrate of the rig for the contract would be around USD 70, 000. This is the first award from PTTEP's multiple, multi-year jackup tenders.
The KFELS Super B Class rigs are designed to operate in 400 feet water depth and drill to 35,000 feet. With a two million pound drilling system and a maximum combined cantilever load of 3,700 kips, the KFELS Super B Class is equipped with tremendous horsepower during drilling operations.
The Skald is a Super B 400 Bigfoot Class jackup drilling rig. The high-specification jackup rig is built by Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd's shipyard in 2018.
PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP) is a Thai state-owned SET-listed oil and gas company. It owns extensive submarine gas pipelines in the Gulf of Thailand, a network of LPG terminals throughout the kingdom. The company was founded on 20 June 1985.
The Subsequent events: - Since
the previous quarterly results release in August 2019, the Company has been
awarded contracts, LOAs and extensions for 6 rigs with a combined revenue
backlog of approximately $169 million. Total additional backlog added year to
date of approximately $465 million.
Borr Drilling back in March 2019 had said it was in advanced negotiations with undisclosed operators for multi-year contracts for four newbuild rigs - Grid, Gersemi, Saga, and Skald, all warm-stacked in Singapore.
Saga and Skald - Negotiations for the other two rigs - continued. It was expected that the multi-year contracts for both of the rigs would start in the first quarter of 2020. However, in its latest fleet status report - issued on May 2 - Borr said that the letters of intent for the Saga and Skald rigs were cancelled. This means that both of the rigs will remain stacked in Singapore.
Both rigs are of a KFELS Super B Bigfoot Class design built by Keppel. The Saga rig was the first of five jack-up rigs that Keppel built for Borr Drilling and Skald was the second of five. They were delivered in January and June 2018, respectively.
Keppel FELS, on January 05, 2018 a wholly owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine, has delivered the 400 ft jackup rig, SAGA, to Borr Drilling safely, on time and on budget. Built to Keppel’s proprietary KFELS Super B Class design, SAGA is the first of five jackup rigs that Keppel is building for Borr Drilling.
Borr Drilling is an international drilling contractor that owns and operates jack-up rigs of modern and high-specification designs providing drilling services to the oil and gas exploration and production industry worldwide in water depths up to approximately 400 feet. With a low cost base, a strong and experienced organisational culture, combined with a unique capital structure, Borr Drilling is built to make a difference.
Borr Drilling has 13 high specification units on order in Singapore from Keppel FELS and PPL Shipyard (4 and 8 respectively) with delivery dates ranging from Q1 2018 to Q4 2020.
