Borr Drilling on August 3, 2020, said that it entered into a contract and letters of intent for the three rigs, adding $21 million to the
total backlog. The company added that it had “good prospects for additional backlog on these units“. Offshore drilling rig owner Borr Drilling has won deals for three of its warm-stacked jack-up drilling rigs. The company claims increased activity levels.
According to its rig status update of August 3rd 2020, the offshore drilling company, Borr Drilling has signed a contract (from Letter of Award) for its jack-up rig Saga for a project in offshore Malaysia by PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP). The contract is for one year period that would start in September-2020 and run until September-2021. The contract has option to extend. The estimated day rate for the rig is US $ 95 000. The Saga, has worked with Eni in Vietnam until July, 2020.
On May 20, 2020, Borr Drilling releases fleet
status report and trading update. Borr Drilling's trading update said, in April 2020, the jack-up rig Saga was awarded a contract in Malaysia for a period of one year (365 days) which is expected to commence in Q3 2020. The contracts were awarded after the oil price collapse, and total backlog for the rigs is expected to be $57 million including mobilisation.
Currently, the jack-up rig Saga is operating in Vietnam under a contract of ENI, until July 2020. The jackup Saga started its contract with ENI offshore Vietnam in February 2020. After that rig would move to Malaysia for a new contract of PTTEP starting from (mid) August 2020 and run until (mid) August 2021. Estimated dayrate of rig is US D 95 000.
On November 26, 2019, in addition to contracts reported in the previous fleet status report, Borr announced that newbuild jack-up Saga has entered into an LOI (letter of intent) for a drilling campaign in Vietnam which is set to begin in January 2020 and take 100 days. The company stated that it had good visibility on additional work for the unit, so it decided to activate the rig. Borr also added that it was in advanced discussions to contract more of its newbuilds. While it is highly unlikely that Borr will be able to find jobs for the five warm staked rigs this year, the company had good contracting success with its newbuilds this year, and I believe that it's a proof of concept for the company's strategy.
The KFELS Super B Class rigs are designed to operate in 400 feet water depth and drill to 35,000 feet. With a two million pound drilling system and a maximum combined cantilever load of 3,700 kips, the KFELS Super B Class is equipped with tremendous horsepower during drilling operations.
The Borr Drilling jack-up rig Saga's contract in Vietnam would start from Jan 31st, 2020 and run until May 05, 2020 for two wells for a duration of 100 days by undisclosed operator. Estimated dayrate is US $ 90 000. Contract has plus one-well option. Currently, the rig is warm stacked in Singapore. The rig is next available from 03.12.2019 available until 30.01.2020.
On November 26, 2019 (Hamilton, Bermuda): Borr Drilling Limited (“Borr”, “Borr Drilling” or the “Company”) announces unaudited results for the three and nine months ending September 30, 2019.
The Chairman of the Board, Paal Kibsgaard, commented: “The jack-up market tightened further in the third quarter, with strong tendering activity, improving dayrates and a strengthening market outlook for 2020. We continued to execute well throughout our rig operations, as well as on our rig activation program. Over the past two years, we have brought 16 rigs into operation, with an additional three rigs presently committed to commence work. With a further 12 modern rigs left to be contracted, of which 7 are still to be delivered, we are in a strong market position, both in terms of capacity and the age profile of our fleet.
The third quarter financial results were in line with our expectations and continued to be impacted by significant rig activation capex. Still, we are pleased to report that operating cash-flow now covers the full SG&A, stacking cost and the servicing of our debt. We have approached our lending banks, seeking an adjustment of the book equity and liquidity covenants, and also the yard, to potentially delay delivery schedules for some of the remaining rigs. We are optimistic that agreements will be reached in the near future. This will further strengthen the company’s liquidity and provide considerable financial flexibility for further rig activations. Based on the current dayrates of around $100k/day, and operating expenses of around $50k/day, we aim to generate around $500 million per year in gross cashflow before interest when all of our rigs are employed. This clearly shows the cashflow potential for Borr in the coming years, which the Company is fully focused on realising.”
Highlights in the third quarter 2019
• Total operating revenues of $102.7 million, net loss of $79.2 million and Adjusted EBITDA of $13.8 million for the third quarter of 2019 vs $1.5 million in the second quarter of 2019
• Technical utilisation for the operating rigs was 99.1% in the third quarter and 99.0% for the first nine months of 2019
• Economical utilisation for the operating rigs was 95.2% in the third quarter and 95.3% for the first nine months of 2019
• Company completed an initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker BORR, issuing 5,750,000 shares at a price of $9.30 per share
• Commenced two 18-month contracts for two premium newbuild jack-up rigs with Pemex in Mexico in August 2019, under an integrated services model, bringing the total number of rigs in operation to 16
Subsequent events:
• Since the previous quarterly results release in August 2019, the Company has been awarded contracts, LOAs and extensions for 6 rigs with a combined revenue backlog of approximately $169 million. Total additional backlog added year to date of approximately $465 million
• In October, the company took delivery of the new build jack-up rig “Hermod” from the Keppel FELS shipyard in Singapore
• In November 2019, the Company sold marketable securities, resulting an estimated total realised loss of $16.4 million, and improving the liquidity position by $20.2 million
On May 2, 2019, Borr Drilling has received cancellations of two letters of intent for a pair of jack-up rigs, which are currently warm-stacked in Singapore.
Back in March 2019 Borr Drilling said it was in advanced negotiations with undisclosed operators for multi-year contracts for four newbuild rigs Grid, Gersemi, Saga, and Skald, all warm-stacked in Singapore. April and Borr was awarded new contracts with Pemex in Mexico for both the Grid and Gersemi jack-up rigs. The duration of the contracts is from June 2019 to December 2020.
Negotiations for the other two rigs; Saga and Skald; continued. It was expected that the multi-year contracts for both of the rigs would start in the first quarter of 2020. However, in its latest fleet status report issued on May 2 Borr said that the letters of intent for the Saga and Skald rigs were cancelled. This means that both of the rigs will remain stacked in Singapore.
Both rigs are of a KFELS Super B Bigfoot Class design built by Keppel. The Saga rig was the first of five jack-up rigs that Keppel built for Borr Drilling and Skald was the second of five. They were delivered in January and June 2018, respectively.
On January 05, 2018 Keppel FELS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine, has delivered the 400 ft jackup rig, SAGA, to Borr Drilling safely, on time and on budget. Built to Keppel's proprietary KFELS Super B Class design, SAGA is the first of five jackup rigs that Keppel is building for Borr Drilling.
Mr Chris Ong, CEO of Keppel O&M, said, " We are pleased to deliver the first rig to our new customer Borr Drilling. This will be the 12th KFELS Super B Class rig and the 66th rig of the KFELS B Class family to enter the market. Keppel O&M continually engages our customers to develop win-win solutions. As the drilling market recovers, the quality and capabilities of our KFELS B Class designs would be important differentiators for rig owners seeking efficient and reliable operations. Our rigs have set the industry benchmark and we are confident that this rig will be just as successful when deployed."
The CEO of Borr Drilling, Mr Simon Johnson, added, "Jackup utilisation is improving as we recover from the bottom of the business cycle. The market preferentially rewards contractors who invest in the latest designs from the best shipyards. Our partnership with Keppel FELS allows us to provide rigs with leading edge specifications ready to deliver the highest operational performance to our customer base. We are looking to be paid for the performance that we deliver and our relationship with Keppel FELS is one of several crucial partnerships we are fostering that are focused on improving industry outcomes. Our KPI's are focused on accelerating time to first oil."
