Offshore oil gas jackup drill rig-Hakuryu-11

KFELS Super B Class 400-449ft IC Jackup Info/Jobs.

The 2013-built KFELS Super B Class-type rig is scheduled to start operations with Mitsui in June 2021. After this, the rig is expected to mobilize to Vietnam to start a 300-day contract with Petrovietnam off Vung Tau, under an agreement signed in December 2019. Worth noting, JDC last month secured contract extensions for two jack-up rigs in Qatar, at the giant Al-Shaheen offshore oil field in Qatar.

Rig Contract Details:

Operating Status:        Operational

Operator:                     PetroVietnam Exploration & Production(PVEP)

On September 11, 2020, Japan Drilling Co., Ltd. the Japanese offshore drilling company JDC has entered into a drilling contract with Mitsui Oil Exploration Co., Ltd. for the provision of a jack-up drilling rig "HAKURYU-11". Mitsui Oil Exploration will use the Hakuryu-11 rig to drill in the Tenpoku Seiho Oki area, offshore Hokkaido, Japan. JDC operates a fleet of five jack-ups, one semi-submersible, and one drillship. The drilling contract is for one firm well, which is expected to take 80 days to complete.

The extensions, with North Oil Company, a JV between Qatar Petroleum and Total, will keep the jack-up drilling rigs "HAKURYU-10" and "HAKURYU-12" in Qatar for one-year longer, each.

The main terms of the drilling contract are as follows:

1. Operating Area :Tenpoku Seiho Oki, Hokkaido;

2. Period of Contract :1 firm well (approx. 80 days);

3. Estimated Commencement Time :Around June 2021;

On Dec 09, 2019, Japan Drilling Co., Ltd. agreed to provide drilling services with a jack-up drilling rig "HAKURYU-11" to a certain operator based on the subcontract with PetroVietnam Drilling & Well Services Corporation who secured the additional drilling contract from the operator.

The main terms of the additional drilling contract are as follows:

1. Period of Contract :4 firm wells (approx. 300 days) + 1 or 2 option well(s) (approx. 60 days/well)

2. Estimated Commencement Time :Around August - October 2021

3. Operating Area :Offshore Vung Tau, Vietnam

On November 20, 2019, Japan Drilling Company’s jack-up drilling rig “HAKURYU-11 has a drilling operation offshore Vietnam. JDC said that the rig had started the drilling operation offshore Vung Tau, Vietnam, based on the subcontract with PetroVietnam Drilling & Well Services Corporation.

JDC said earlier this year the Hakuryu-11 rig would be drilling subcontracted to

PetroVietnam Drilling & Well Services Corporation who had secured the drilling contract from an unnamed operator. This is a five-well drilling contract which will take 300 days to complete. The contract was expected to start in October. The operator will have an option to extend for one more well, which should take another 60 days.

The estimated day rate for the contract to be around $70,000. The Hakuryu-11 rig is of the KFELS Super B Class and is a 3-leg self-elevating cantilever type drilling rig. It has a maximum operating water depth of 425 feet and a maximum drilling depth of 35,000 feet. The Hakuryu-11 was constructed by Keppel FELS Limited, Singapore, in May 2013. There are currently nine jack-up rigs active in Vietnam.

“Higher dayrates and longer-term contracts roll in for another good month in the jack-up market. Mexico, the North Sea, West Africa, SE Asia, and the Middle East have all experienced reduced availability of rigs in increasingly active tendering environments. Dayrates are rising for premium rigs and are now firmly in the $80,000-100,000 range for 2020 work, with some going much higher like the contract for Noble Regina Allen at $120,000 in Trinidad, Bassoe said.

The global jack-up rig utilization is now at 77 percent, with 338 jack-up rigs drilling, 90 warm stacked, and 63 cold stacked. There are also 53 jack-up rigs listed as under construction.

2019-03-28 Japan Drilling Co., Ltd. agreed to provide drilling services with a jack-up drilling rig "HAKURYU-11" to certain operator based on the subcontract with PetroVietnam Drilling & Well Services Corporation who secured the drilling contract from the operator.

The main terms of the drilling contract are as follows:

1. Period of Contract :5 firm wells (approx. 300 days) + 1 option well (approx. 60 days)

2. Estimated Commencement Time :Around October 2019

3. Operating Area :Offshore Vung Tau, Vietnam

On March 28, 2019, Japan Drilling Company has signed a drilling contract for its Hakuryu-11 jack-up rig with an unnamed client in Vietnam. JDC said on Thursday the rig would be drilling subcontracted to PetroVietnam Drilling & Well Services Corporation who has secured the drilling contract from the unnamed operator.

The five-well drilling contract offshore Vung Tau, Vietnam, is expected to start in October 2019 and will take 300 days to complete. The operator will have an option to extend for one more well, which should take another 60 days.

Before embarking upon this Vietnam contract, the rig will first be deployed to drill for Premier Oil in Indonesia, under a four-well contract awarded in November 2018. JDC at the time said that the contract with Premier Oil would begin either in March or April, 2019. The Premier Oil contract is set to begin on March 30, and it has an estimated dayrate of 65000. This contract is expected to complete in mid-September 2019.
