6th-gen Semi DP KFELS/MSC DSS 38 Rig Info/Jobs.

Capable of drilling at a depth of 2,400 m, Delba III has been ideal for last two months in Guanabara Bay (RJ) since its contract with Petrobras was ended on August 21, 2019 which began in Mid August 2012. Originally, the rig was contracted to Delba, but the Brazilian group had problems in the construction phase, and Ocyan eventually took over the work and the charter contract.

The offshore service provider OOS Energy from the Netherlands and part of the OOS Group, said that its onshore and offshore management teams took over the Ships Management of the Semi-Submersible rig ODN DELBA III from Ocyan, formerly known as Odebrecht Oil & Gas.

Upon completion of the handover, the office management and crew continued to prepare the vessel for her voyage to Mexico, which included the finalization of all required documentation and certification in accordance to the interim audits which were conducted and successfully passed.

The ODN DELBA III finally departed Guanabara Bay on Saturday 9th November bound for her new project in Mexico. last month, OOS Energy acquired the equipment after settling the operation with a pool of banks financing the unit, led by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

Made in conjunction with a Mexican investment bank, the acquisition of the rig could mark OOS’s first initiative in the drilling sector.

On October 27 2019, OOS is the new owner of the semi-submersible ODN Delba III, which until August was part of Ocyan’s fleet in Brazil. The company acquired the equipment after settling the operation with a pool of banks financing the unit, led by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). Made in conjunction with a Mexican investment bank, the acquisition of the rig could mark OOS’s first initiative in the drilling sector.

However, the group has not yet defined whether it will make adaptation works so that the semi-submersible will actually use it to drill. Opportunities under evaluation include chartering the rig for operation in Mexico.

Regardless of Delba III’s fate, OOS plans to acquire other drilling units in the market. However, entry into the segment may be hampered by the Dutch group’s lack of experience in the area.

The Norwegian rig brokerage firm Bassoe Offshore stated that the OOS had acquired the ODN Delba III in cooperation with a banking consortium. According to Bassoe, the rig will work for Mexican oil and gas company Pemex. The contract for the ODN Delba III is scheduled to begin on May 1, 2020. The rig will work for Pemex for three years (1,095 days) on a dayrate of $145,000. The rig, built by International Management & Construction Corporation (IMCC) in 2011, is capable of drilling at a depth of 2,400 meters.

OOS Energy is also the manager of the OOS Tiger 1 drillship, which was also awarded a contract with Mexico’s Pemex back in September 2018.

Delba III will leave Brazil by the end of the year. Ocyan will have five deepwater rigs in its portfolio, four drillships – Norbe VIII, Norbe XIX, ODN I and ODN II – and a semi-submersible, Norbe VI. All are chartered by Petrobras.
